Victorian Bathroom

About this Project

The project focused on the meticulous renovation of both the main bathroom and guest bathroom of a Victorian flat, with a strong emphasis on preserving the property’s historic charm while enhancing functionality and comfort. The design carefully blended traditional Victorian elements with modern craftsmanship, delivering an elegant yet practical result.

In the main bathroom, a freestanding bathtub was installed as the centrepiece, adding a sense of luxury and authenticity. Adjacent to the tub, a glass shower enclosure was fitted, offering modern convenience without disrupting the period aesthetic. A stylish vanity sink unit and a high-quality Victorian-style toilet were chosen to maintain the classic theme while adding practical storage. To elevate the room’s character, bespoke wall panelling was added, finished in a timeless shade to create a refined and sophisticated ambiance. Subtle period-appropriate details, such as chrome fixtures, ornate fittings, and carefully selected tiling, further enhanced the traditional feel while ensuring long-lasting durability.

The guest bathroom was designed to complement the main bathroom while preserving its own distinctive Victorian style. A high-level cistern toilet with a classic pull chain was installed to honour the period’s architectural features, creating an impressive and authentic focal point. A compact vanity sink unit was incorporated, offering discreet storage while maintaining the balance of form and function. The walls were adorned with an elegant Victorian-inspired wallpaper, which was carefully selected to tie together the room’s elements and provide a warm, inviting aesthetic. Polished details, including ornate brackets, vintage-style taps, and subtle decorative trim, completed the space with an attention to detail that respects the property’s heritage.

Both bathrooms reflect a careful restoration that balances period-appropriate features with modern practicality. The project successfully preserves the Victorian flat’s unique character while delivering beautifully crafted, timeless spaces designed for contemporary living.
